Anna Bershteyn leads the Science and Global Health R&D team at Coefficient Giving. She remains a part-time faculty member at New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine.
During her time as a full-time associate professor, her lab supported local health officials and seven international ministries of health in optimizing healthcare resource allocation, navigating pandemics, and introducing new biomedical products. Prior to that, Anna led the HIV and tuberculosis research team at the Institute for Disease Modeling, now part of the Gates Foundation. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Fannie and John Hertz Foundation as co-chair of fellowship selection.
Anna holds a PhD from MIT, where she studied adjuvant design for HIV vaccine discovery, supported by the Hertz Foundation, the Paul and Daisy Soros Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and MIT’s Ida Greene Fellowship. She has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed papers and has made more than 100 media appearances, including in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and TIME.
