Fırat Akova

Fırat joined Coefficient Giving in October 2026. He was previously a Summer Fellow at the Centre for the Governance of AI, where he conducted research on AI-enabled extreme power concentration. Before that, he was a Research Associate at Future Impact Group, where he worked with researchers from New York University to prepare a code of practice for research on AI sentience and consciousness. He was also a Senior Research Fellow at Power for Democracies, a Lecturer at Koç University, and a Global Priorities Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Global Priorities Institute and the Forethought Foundation for Global Priorities Research. He founded and directed Effective Altruism Türkiye. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Warwick.
