Bryan joined Coefficient Giving in September 2026. He writes about Coefficient Giving’s research and grantmaking, with a focus on global catastrophic risks, and works with the Communications team on editorial strategy. Before Coefficient Giving, he was at Vox.com, where he was the editor of Future Perfect and later senior editorial director. He also wrote the Axios Future newsletter from 2020 to 2021. Earlier in his career, he spent fifteen years at TIME Magazine as a reporter in Hong Kong, Tokyo bureau chief, climate change correspondent, and international editor. He is the author of End Times: A Brief Guide to the End of the World, a survey of existential risk published by Hachette in 2019. He holds an A.B. in English from Princeton University.
