The Abundance and Growth Fund Has a New Blog

The team behind Coefficient Giving’s Abundance and Growth Fund just launched a blog that will share research, commentary, and updates on what they’ve been reading.

Below, we’ve shared the blog’s first post, which introduces the team.

Welcome to the Abundance and Growth Blog! This is the blog of the Abundance and Growth Fund at Coefficient Giving. We’re a $120 million philanthropic fund dedicated to accelerating technological progress, expanding economic growth, and reducing the cost of living. Our work spans science, innovation, clinical trials, housing, energy, state capacity and more. You can read more about the fund here.

In this blog we plan to share research, commentary, and what we’re reading. Here’s the team making it happen:

Matt Clancy leads the team. He joined when the fund launched in March 2025, after leading Coefficient Giving’s Innovation Policy program. Matt has a PhD in economics, and prior to joining Coefficient Giving he worked at the Institute for Progress, Iowa State University, and the US Department of Agriculture. He is also the creator of New Things Under the Sun, a living literature review about social science research related to innovation.

Alex Armlovich leads our housing policy work. He joins us from the Niskanen Center, where he was a housing policy analyst, and has held positions as a policy fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a transportation researcher at the Citizens Budget Commission of New York. Alex serves on the New York City Rent Guidelines Board and is nationally recognized for his expertise in how zoning regulations, land use policies, and housing supply affect affordability and economic growth.

Nisha Austin leads program operations. An architect by training, she has built her career helping teams and organizations scale. She previously led operations on the Business Operations and Biosecurity teams at Coefficient Giving and co-founded a profitable product and design company. Nisha serves on her local Housing Committee and Master Plan Advisory Board in Marblehead, MA, giving her ground-level insight into housing policy implementation.

Saloni Dattani advises on our clinical trials work. She focuses on accelerating medical innovation by improving the efficiency, reliability and transparency of clinical trials. Saloni holds a PhD in psychiatric genetics. Previously, she was a researcher at Our World in Data on global health and medicine. She works full time at Works in Progress as an editor and writer, and hosts the podcast Hard Drugs with Jacob Trefethen.

Jordan Dworkin leads our innovation policy portfolio. He supports efforts to accelerate scientific progress by improving institutions, incentives, and processes. Jordan holds a PhD in biostatistics. Prior to joining Coefficient Giving, he led metascience policy at the Federation of American Scientists and was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Biostatistics at Columbia University.

Willow Latham-Proença leads our energy work. She supports efforts to make energy more accessible and affordable, including permitting and regulatory reforms to expand energy supply. She joins us from the Congressional Budget Office, where she modeled the impacts of potential legislation on energy and infrastructure in the U.S. Previously, she worked in infrastructure finance and was briefly an urban planner in her hometown of Jersey City.

Dylan Matthews leads a variety of sub-areas, including state capacity, interdisciplinary areas, and new areas. Dylan has a long background in journalism, where he has written for the Washington Post, the New Republic, The American Prospect, and Slate. Prior to Coefficient Giving, and since 2014, he was at Vox Media, where he created and was a senior correspondent at Future Perfect, a section dedicated to exploring the most effective ways to do good.
