Alex is a senior program officer focusing primarily on technical topics including AI information security, model evaluations, and frontier AI safety policies. He also manages most of the grantmakers on the AI Governance & International Policy team. Alex joined Coefficient Giving in August 2023.
Previously, he was an advising manager on the 1-on-1 team at 80,000 Hours, where he now serves on the board. Prior to that, Alex taught mathematics and physics at a specialist sixth-form college in London. Alex writes at lawsen.substack.com and tweets at @lxrjl. He has an M.Phys. in physics from the University of Oxford.
